Sinclair Accepting Applications for Young Scholars Program

DAYTON, Ohio (12/02/2008) – The Young Scholars Program at Sinclair Community College is currently accepting 8th grade applications for Winter and Spring 2009 Sessions.

Young Scholars is a college recruitment program for students in grades 8 through 12. Students who participate in the program agree to attend 10 Saturday morning workshops each year for five years, during the 8th through 12th grades. The Young Scholars Program is targeted to youth whose parents have not completed a college degree.

“This program provides comprehensive career and leadership development, as well as cultural activites and workshops that focus on the concerns of youth,” said Kates DeShaney, program coordinator.

Winter Session begins Saturday, January 10, 2009, and Spring Session begins on Saturday, March 21, 2009.

Students will be notified of their admission status and all students accepted are required to attend a mandatory orientation. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to receive a two-year financial aid package to attend Sinclair.
