Construction Design Technician (CDT.S.STC)

24.0 Credit Hours

This program is designed to prepare students for an entry level position as a Construction Drafting Technician. In this program, students will learn how to draft plans for various construction projects by hand or using computer-aided drafting and design software. Construction Drafting Technicians are required to possess a variety of different skill sets in order to be successful, including knowledge of the construction industry, technical skills and computer proficiency and this certificate will enable the student to acquire these skills.

Prerequisites: Other (The certificate will be restricted to Advanced Job Training Students incarcerated at one of the five participating institutions: PCI, ACI, DCI, ORW, and SCI.)

Program Outcomes

  • Demonstrate draft plans for construction projects by hand or using computer-aided drafting and design software.
  • Develop a personal portfolio that includes career and financial goals, a professional resume, and other pertinent information applicable to employment upon release.
  • With the knowledge and skills obtained in the Construction Design Certificate, students will be able to effectively and professionally communicate per industry standards.
