Students from the interior design and visual communications programs recently showcased their work at the college's annual design portfolio show. This year, the event's theme was "Climactic: Where Will You Go" and hosted the work of 67 graduating students.
The portfolio show gives students the opportunity to present and discuss their work with professionals from around the region. During this event, the students are evaluated by the people currently working in the design industry . The evaluations work to advise, help and encourage the student, while also providing an assessment tool for the academic departments to review program curriculum.
Behind the Climactic Event
Sinclair students Patrick Kane, Joshua Nagy, Jennifer Watercutter, Matthew Daughtery and Samantha Drake created all of the event’s print and web collaterals as a capstone project for spring quarter. This work included the theme, invitations, posters, banners, t-shirts, website and more.
According to the team, "a climactic moment happens at the height of the action, when everything that has been building up comes to a head—the perfect way to describe Sinclair Community College’s 2010 portfolio show. ‘Climactic’ represents everything we’ve worked so hard to achieve and what we strive for everyday. It represents a time where only we can decide what will happen and only we can decide where we will go."
