Sinclair Workforce Development and Corporate Services Better Structured to Serve Clients

DAYTON, Ohio (12/07/09) – Recognizing the significant role workforce development will play in the economic growth of our region, Sinclair has repurposed two positions within the college and reallocated those resources to its Workforce Development & Corporate Services Division.

"Workforce development continues to be a critical issue for our region," said Dr. Steven Lee Johnson, president and CEO of Sinclair Community College. "Sinclair is committed to aligning college resources to help meet the workforce needs of the region to drive economic benefit."

The first position is the new rol e of Marketing Communications Manager, which will focus on increasing public awareness of new and existing continuing education and training programs at Sinclair. Gary Honnert, an experienced marketing and public relations professional, has recently transitioned into this role to create and implement marketing communications programs promoting Sinclair’s training and consulting services.

"The addition of Gary to our division is vital," said Deb Norris, vice president, Workforce Development and Corporate Services. "He has extensive experience and long standing relationships within and outside the college, which will benefit the division."

Jeff Miller has been appointed Assistant Vice President of Workforce Development and Corporate Services beginning in January of 2010. This role fo cuses on providing operational excellence to support achievement of the significant growth outlined in the division’s strategic plan.

"Jeff will be responsible for creating and executing a strategic operational plan aligned with the WFD&CS strategic plan, as well as function as an internal liaison with other college divisions," added Norris.

Previously the director of Business Services for the college, Miller will also oversee the AIM Center, Miami Valley Research Park and the Conference Center operations.

The division also recently announced the appointment of Donna Hoying as manager of advanced engineering and manufacturing solutions. Her role includes oversight of Sinclair’s Advanced Integrated Manufacturing Center as well as focusing on creating non-credit training offerings in the advanced engineering and manufacturing areas.
