Sinclair Sweeps OCCAC Baseball Honors

The OCCAC Baseball Committee has selected Sinclair's Austin Downing as the OCCAC Baseball Player of the Week for week one of league play. The committee has also tagged Sinclair pitcher Corey Johnson as week one OCCAC Pitcher of the Week.

The Pride took on Owens in the first league series during the week, and second baseman Austin Downing (Middletown, Ohio) lit up the hitting category by going .500 for the first four games. He also had a home run, 4 RBIs and two stolen bases.

Coach Stephen Dintaman is quoted as saying, "Austin had a great weekend for us. He came through with a walk-off single in game one and hit a big home run for us in game two. He was on base all weekend and played good defense."

Corey Johnson of Sinclair was also named as week one OCCAC Pitcher of the Week. Corey is a right-handed pitcher out of Tippecanoe High School. During his outing against Owens, Sinclair won 3-1 while he pitched six innings. Corey allowed only three hits and one run and struck out seven batters.

Coach Dintaman states, "Corey took advantage of his first conference start and gave us six strong innings. He’s shown great composure on the mound this year and really competes every time out."

Congratulations to both Austin and Corey for their outstanding play during week one of league play. We wish them continued success throughout the remainder of the season!
