Concert to be held as part of Dayton Jewish Cultural Arts and Books Festival
Dayton, OH- Sinclair Community College will host Afro-Semitic Experience as a part of the annual Dayton Jewish Cultural Arts and Book Festival on Thursday, December 11, at 7:30 pm in Blair Hall.
The Afro-Semitic Experience is a band of African-American and Jewish-American musicians who are dedicated to preserving, promoting and expanding the rich cultural and musical heritage of the Jewish and African Diasporas. They present interpretations of music from the rich traditions of two cultures: Gospel, Klezmer, Nigunim, Spirituals, Bebop, and Swing.
In performance, the group also frames the music, telling stories about what the pieces mean, how they relate to individual members of the community, and how they reflect upon the relations between Blacks and Jews.
The concert is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, at 7:30 pm in Blair Hall. The cost is $ 10 for students, $12 for adults during advanced sales and $12 for students and $15 for adults at the door.
The Dayton Jewish Cultural Arts and Book Festival is presented by the Dayton Jewish Community Center (DJCC). The Dayton Jewish Cultural Arts and Book Festival is open to the entire community and with the variety of activities we present ensures that there will be something that will appeal to everyone.
