JPN 2202 Intermediate Japanese II
This Intermediate Japanese II class aims to promote students to attain a higher level of Japanese proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the cultural context. This course will focus on competency in contextual readings and character writing skills while continuing to enhance listening and speaking skills.

Outcomes
- Comprehend a variety of simple and personal sentence-level speech, a simple utterance at a time, and in social contexts. Understand highly familiar and predictable topics in face-to-face conversations through the use of contextual clues as well as properly asking their interlocutor for repetition or rephrasing.
- Understand the Japanese social and cultural context and be able to appropriately utilize language skills and pragmatic aspects in international and intracultural communication.
- Understand short, simple texts that convey basic information and deal with basic personal and social topics connected to personal interests or knowledge. Comprehend content by Kanji compound words as well as with other contextual clues.
- Be able to write short, simple communications expressing topics which are highly predictable content areas and personal information by properly using basic sentence structure and the combination of Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji in approximately 150-200 characters.
- Be able to successfully talk about familiar topics related to their daily life by combining learned phrases and sentences and ask simple questions dealing with straightforward survival situations.
