Sinclair Baseball Team is #1 Seed in the Region and Sweeps OCCAC Awards

The Sinclair baseball team will not only enter the NJCAA Division II Region XII baseball tournament May 13 as the number one seed in the region, but they will also be ranked 7th in the latest NJCAA National baseball poll.

For the second consecutive season the Sinclair baseball team swept all the hardware from the conference, and Coach Steve Dintaman recorded his 300th career win as well as his 7th OCCAC Coach of the Year.

This season the OCCAC Player of the Year is Sophomore Outfielder Jimmy White (Cincinnati Elder H.S.).  He had a record breaking season for the Pride on his way to earning the OCCAC Player of the Year.  Jimmy set the single season Sinclair records for the following categories: runs scores (69), hits (83), home runs (13) and RBI (79).  He also earned back to back OCCAC Player of the Week honors, March 29th & April 5th.

The OCCAC Pitcher of the Year is left handed starting pitcher, freshman Alex Anders (Beavercreek H.S.).  He recorded 9 wins on 4 complete games as he earned the OCCAC Pitcher of the Year.  The freshman also recorded 3 shutouts and was named OCCAC Pitcher of the Week 4 times: March 29th, April 5th, April 19th & April 26th.  In addition to being named the OCCAC Pitcher of the Week four times, he was also named the NJCAA Pitcher of the Week for March 29th.

Freshman third baseman Alec Turner (Carlisle H.S.), also made a big splash his first season as not only was he name to the All-Conference team but also being recognized as the OCCAC and NJCAA Division II National Player of the Week for March 15th.  Alec ranked second on the team behind Jimmy White in the following categories: hits (70), doubles (16) and home runs (7).

Alex Young (Indian Creek H.S.) also was named to the OCCAC All-Conference team.  The sophomore Outfielder was named OCCAC Player of the Week April 26th and set the base paths on fire with a team high and single season record of 42 stolen bases.The final member of the 2015 OCCAC All-Conference team from Sinclair, freshman Outfielder Tyler Cowles from Grove City H.S.
