The Creative Writing Summer Camp, hosted by the Courseview Campus Center, provided a wonderful experience for everyone involved.
The camp gave 7th through 12th graders the opportunity to come onto a college campus and write utilizing the workshop setting, thereby allowing them to collaborate with their peers and college faculty and volunteers. The students spent the week engaged and excited while putting their imaginations to work. Leigh Witherell, adjunct faculty, who taught the week-long course, stated “I was amazed at how focused and creative these young minds were and how eager they were to learn the subtle nuances of creative fiction and screenplay writing. They were amazing and they made the experience of teaching this age group a pleasure and one I hope we continue every year at Courseview. I was fortunate to have Courseview student peer tutors, John McNabb and Roy Scott, help with the binding of the students’ finished work and for John to help the students edit and focus their ideas throughout the week as they workshopped their original fiction."
The Creative Writing Summer Camp was organized by Donna Maldonado, Courseview Student Success Advisor.
