Lady Pride Win, Advance to Semi-Finals

Dayton, OH –  Sinclair Women’s Tartan Pride basketball team opened up first round action of The National Junior College Athletic Association, NJCAA - Region XII play with a key component….they played at home!  Sinclair drew the number five seed, Columbus State and battled for 40 minutes to come away with a 83-72 win.  The win moved Sinclair into the Regional Semi-Final against the number one seed in the tournament, Owens College out of Toledo. That Semi-final game will be played at Edison College, located in Piqua, Ohio on Friday, March 4 at 12, noon.

Sinclair led by 11, 40-29 on 46 percent shooting from the field and 83 percent from the free-throw line.

In the second half, Sinclair and Columbus State would play even but Sinclair would move to the foul line and convert.

Sinclair was led by Sophomores Sam Van Atta (Waynesville) with 19 points, Jess Plummer (Tippecanoe) with 13 and Haleigh Hickenbottom (West Liberty) with 12.

Sinclair is now 17-8 overall and will next take on the number 11 team in the Nation and number one seed, Owens College.   
Game time for The Lady Pride will be 12, noon on Friday, March 4 at Edison College.
