Former Sinclair Baseball Pitcher Drafted by the Cincinnati Reds

Dayton, OH – Former Sinclair Baseball Pitcher Dan Jensen drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 20th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Jensen, a former Right Handed Pitcher for the Pride during 2008 and the University of Cincinnati Senior was taken in the 20th round (625th overall pick) by the Reds. Dan pitched one season for Sinclair earning a 3.90 ERA and being named to the Academic All-Conference team before moving on to the University Cincinnati for the final 3 years of his eligibility.

While at UC, Dan made 25 appearances out of the bullpen his sophomore year with a 4.60 ERA which was second best on the team. Moving into the starting rotation his junior year, he made 10 starts with a 4-2 record and 4.02 ERA in 53.2 innings pitched.

Dan stayed in the starting rotation his senior year and started 15 games with a 3.11 ERA in 89.2 innings pitched and was ranked 3rd in the Big East with 79 strikeouts. On April 1st, Dan threw his 1st career complete game as he struck out 11 in a 3-1 Bearcat victory in a Big East contest against the Georgetown Hoyas. That performance earned Dan the honor of being named the Big East Pitcher of the Week ending April 4th, 2011.
