Cincinnati, Ohio - The OCCAC volleyball selection committee has selected Abigail Schlater of Sinclair Community College as the "Player of the Week" ending September 25, 2011.
Abigail is currently ranked 10th in the NJCAA in kills with 238 total kills. This is an average of 3.84 kills per set in which she has played in a total of 62 sets.
She is a sophomore and a team captain for the Tartan Pride. During the week, she played an outstanding match against OCCAC rival Edison and finished with 27 kills, a hitting efficiency of 40.81%, 17 digs, 2 aces, & 3 blocks.
Coach Gan states that "This is Abigail's best match she has played since I coached her from last season! Whenever a good set came to her, I knew she was going to get a kill! I had so much confidence in her kill that I told the setter to set the ball to her to finish the set." She did and Sinclair came out the victor.
Abigail also had an outstanding performance at Lorain in which she totaled 12 kills, only one error with hitting efficiency of 45.83%, 13 digs, and 2 blocks. Schlater is a second year player from Lewisburg, Ohio and Tri-County North High School. She is also a 2010 OCCAC First Team All-Conference player.
This is Sinclair’s second consecutive selection [this season] in the conference.
Congratulations to Abigail Schlater and the Sinclair volleyball team for an outstanding week in OCCAC play
