What is the program about?

The Horticulture Technician degree uses courses from existing technical certificates as well as a general education base to fulfill an educational need for horticultural studies within the Miami Valley.

Program Outcomes

  • Use biological principles, mainly as they apply to plant propagation and growth and managing landscape pests and diseases.
  • Identify essential landscape plants, economic crops, insects, pests, and diseases and be able to manage them where they exist in the environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate, supervise and keep a professional position in the workplace.
  • Apply extensive practical knowledge in managing materials and resources in fertilization, irrigation, pest management, and greenhouses.

Career Opportunities

The graduates can hold jobs in greenhouses, nurseries, and landscape businesses.
