What is the program about?

This program prepares students for a career in Manufacturing by developing an understanding of manufacturing processes and how to implement and improve these processes in the areas of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Technology, Automation, and Computer Aided Manufacturing. The degree includes traditional classroom instruction and "hands-on" laboratory experience. The first year of study contains an embedded 31 credit hour certificate, Basic Manufacturing. The student may also achieve the Industry Recognized MSSC Certified Production Technician Certificate in the first year. The second year of study will culminate in an ATS degree in one of five certificate pathways. These pathways include General Manufacturing, Computer Aided Manufacturing, Automation Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Industrial Engineering Technology.

Program Outcomes

  • Demonstrate the math and science skills required for solving technological problems within the field's discipline.
  • An ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature within the discipline.
  • An ability to apply fundamental knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of safety, mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.

Career Opportunities

Successful completion of this ATS degree prepares students for entry-level positions which may lead to higher level opportunities within the in-demand fields of General Manufacturing, Computer Aided Manufacturing, Industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation Technology, Quality Control, and more.
