The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Aspire program is a state and federally funded education program to help individuals gain the skills and knowledge necessary to enter higher education or the workforce. Our goal is to get students to "what's next" in their lives, whether that’s advancing in their job, earning their high school diploma, or going to college/ a training program. MVCTC Aspire has held classes at Sinclair Community College for over 10 years, helping students succeed!

Free Classes Available!

We offer classes to students at various levels and needs. Read below to see which class fits you best! To register for any of these FREE classes, please call 937-461-7323 or stop by building 3, room 142. Classes run year-round and coincide to the Sinclair academic calendar.

 

Need to improve your Math ALEKS score?

SCC 6050 College and Career Advancement- Math (0 credit hours)
This is an ideal class for those students who score 0-13 on the ALEKS test and feel that working solely on a computer to improve that score may not be the best option for them. Students will improve their math score by developing math fundamental skills through individual and group instruction and also learn college and career skills. Classes start with each 8-week term. To register, talk to your Academic Advisor.

Who should take this class? Anyone who scored below college-ready on the ALEKS and prefers teacher instruction instead of computer instruction
Location: Building 4, Room 4125
Days/Times: Monday and Wednesday. 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.


Need to earn your High School Equivalency/GED?

Class to Career High School Equivalency Class

This class is targeted at 16-24 year olds who need to earn their high school equivalency (HSE).  Although the class will focus on English, Science, Math, and Social Studies preparation, there will also be activities designed to help students explore various career options and make a plan for what they want to pursue after obtaining their HSE (work, college, training, military, etc.) Classes will be interactive and students will be using computers every class.

Who should take this class? Students who are 16-24 and need their HSE
Location: Building 4, Room 4125
Days/Times: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Starting 8/20, class will be T/Th from 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., Building 4, Room 125

Aspire High School Equivalency Class
This Aspire class will prepare you to take your High School Equivalency Exam (HSE) through instruction in reading, writing, science, social studies, and math. Students will be given individual learning time each class and also participate in a group lesson on various subjects. Take the step and get enrolled to earn your HSE to increase your employment opportunities, advance your career, or enter into a training program or college!

Who should take this class? Anyone who needs to earn a High School Equivalency diploma

Is English your Second Language?

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) class is designed to help students improve reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities in the English language. Each class we will work on career/job skills in various areas. Every student’s goal is different, but the point of this class is for students to test into Sinclair ESOL classes, get a job, or earn a high school diploma/equivalency. We also work on using computers, typing, and citizenship skills. Come have fun learning English! 

Who should take this class? Non-native English speakers who are interested in going to college, getting a job, or earning their high school diploma/equivalency.
Location: Building 4, Room 4125
Days/Times: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (Online/Distance Ed Options Available).
