Integrated Systems Technician (IST) Program

Integrated Systems Technician (IST)

New Bachelor of Applied Science Degree

60% of regionally posted Internet of Things jobs require a bachelor’s degree. To help our students meet this education requirement, Sinclair will offer a new Bachelor of Applied Science Integrated Systems Technician degree program starting in the Fall of 2023.

This interdisciplinary program builds on the Internet of Things (IoT) Cyber Technician associate degree to address the growing demand for expertise in this field, fusing both the electric hardware and basic programming skills needed (e.g. working with sensors and actuators) with an understanding of basic cybersecurity.

Students will study in state-of-the-art laboratories under highly qualified faculty to gain the technical and robotic skills needed to effectively integrate new devices into an existing technology infrastructure in a secure way.

Coursework and Program Objectives

The program will include courses on microcontrollers, IoT sensors, wireless communication, advanced robotics, advanced Programmable Logic Controllers, Cyber Security, data analytics, and other high-tech content.

Graduates will understand and be prepared to service/maintain advanced manufacturing, high-tech warehousing, consumer market, and medical equipment through the processes of automation, data acquisition, and movement of data to the cloud, as well as be able to supply data analytics/visualization to business systems where intelligent decisions can be made.
