A screening and discussion of this 2011 documentary by PBS.  Featuring Harvard scholar, Henry Louis Gates, Jr. as he reveals the often-overlooked history of the significant Black populations brought to Mexico and Peru in the 16th and 17th centuries.  Both areas received far more enslaved people than the United States, and the program highlights the rich cultural worlds their descendants have developed in Veracruz on the Gulf of Mexico and in Peru.
