Dayton Campus Enrolls Its 400,000th Student This Fall Term

August 19, 2013 - Sinclair Community College began its fall session today and this term will see the 400,000th student enrolled at the Dayton campus since its opening at the present address some 40 years ago. This term has also seen the highest ever number of students assigned to associate degree programs, up 5.5% from the previous year. This is in keeping with the college's efforts to create clearer academic pathways that encourage degree completion. Finally, in a reflection of the college's historic and ongoing commitment to using the internet to deliver higher education, this fall semester will see the 65,000th student enroll in distance learning or online classes.

"As we begin this academic year, I am very pleased that both Sinclair's Dayton campus and our distance learning programs are reaching important milestones," Sinclair College President Steve Johnson said. "Sinclair has a deep and historic commitment to both the City of Dayton as well as to developing new and innovative ways to use technology on behalf of our students. We will continue to move forward in at our main campus, at our branch campuses, and online on behalf of our students."

Additionally, Sinclair is currently experiencing the highest ever enrollment of Hispanic students. Hispanic enrollments are expected to be up 26% from Fall of 2009. Sinclair is also experiencing enrollment highs in many of its programs, including the veterinary technician program and the innovative Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). Finally, Courseview Campus Center in Mason will serve its 7,000th student this fall in addition to opening the second building on the Mason campus at the beginning of fall term. In addition to doubling the physical capacity at Courseview, Sinclair is doubling the number of degree and certificates delivered there from 25 to 50 in total.

Sinclair is recognized as a local and national leader in delivering high-quality and affordable higher education. One of the oldest and best known community colleges in the nation, Sinclair recently celebrated its 127th year and is a board member of the prestigious League for Innovation in the Community College. Sinclair offers over 170 accredited degrees and certificates and has graduated more degree and certificate holders than any other community college in the State of Ohio over the last five years.
