The #GivingTuesday #SinclairGives campaign that debuted on Tuesday, November 29 resulted in over $1,100 in donations towards the Class Gift Scholarship. Thanks to the leadership of the #GivingTuesday Chair, Will McChesney, the entire #GivingTuesday committee, and the generosity of all who donated, this scholarship is now fully endowed! “Generally speaking, under good market conditions, endowment funds at this level will generate enough revenue to provide up to $1,000 in scholarships a year, “ says Sharon Smith, Annual Giving and Scholarships Officer. “We are looking forward to increasing this fund in the future to allow for more awards.” All students who are enrolled in a degree program, who have no more than two terms to complete their degree, and are in good academic standing will be eligible to apply.
While #GivingTuesday is a largely social media driven campaign to encourage online gifts, the majority of gifts this year came from student led collections. Additionally, student clubs and organizations competed in a Coin Collection Challenge to see which could collect the most change for this worthwhile endeavor. Congratulations to Brother to Brother who won that challenge and will have their name added to the Students Support Sinclair plaque and receive free bowling passes donated by Capri Lanes. Thank you again to all who participated!
