International Education Week Guest Speaker: Human Trafficking is Modern-Day Slavery

Sinclair Community College welcomes, as part of the Center for Teaching & Learning's Annual International Education Week, Dr. Anthony Talbott of the University of Dayton on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, 7:00 - 9:00 PM, Building 7, Room 7-006BC

A victim of trafficking may look like many of the people you see every day. Ask the right questions and look for clues. You are vital because you may be the only outsider with the opportunity to speak to a victim. There are safe housing, health, immigration , food, income, employment, legal and interpretation services available to victims, but first they must be found.

Dr. Talbott is a lecturer of political science and human rights at the University of Dayton. He teaches one of the country's first service-learning courses on human trafficking and is a very active, anti-trafficking advocate at the state level. He co-founded and chairs Abolition Ohio, the Miami Valley anti-traffickinig coalition, and serves on the Ohio Attorney General's Human Trafficking Commission where he chairs the Prevention Education and Awareness committee. He speaks on human trafficking and related issues across the country.
