Jeff Price Named OCCAC Athletic Director of the Year

Dayton, OH – Sinclair Community College is pleased to announce that Jeff Price has been named 2014-15 OCCAC Athletic Director of the Year.

Price and fellow OCCAC Athletic Director Scott Nichols (Columbus State) will share the award this year as they received the honor last Tuesday the 10th at the fall OCCAC Athletic Directors' meeting.  The announcement was posted on the OCCAC.org website and tweeted @OCCAC_official on Friday June 12, 2015

In just his second year as Athletic Director as well as the Head Men's Basketball Coach, Price has made numerous contributions to the conference.  He chairs the Men's & Women's Basketball Committee and has worked with Scott Nichols to move the OCCAC Men's & Women's Basketball Final Four to Ohio Christian University the past two years.  As the Chair of the Basketball Committee, he has implemented a pre-season OCCAC basketball poll to bring more exposure to the conference and streamlined the voting process for Player of the Week & All-Conference voting procedures.

Sinclair Athletics has also seen growth and success this past year.  Both Men's & Women's Basketball teams advanced to the NJCAA District Final Four tournaments during the winter and this spring both Baseball and Softball had incredible runs as they both advanced to the District Championship games respectively, one game each from moving onto the College World Series.

Academically, Sinclair remains strong as ever with 17 student/athletes earning OCCAC All-Academic honors.  As a result of only having 83 student/athletes in five sports, one in five or 20% of Sinclair student/athletes earned Academic All-Conference Awards with a 3.3 GPA or higher.

One team was also nominated for the NJCAA All-Academic team with a cumulative team GPA above 3.0.  In addition, two Sinclair student/athletes were also nominated for NJCAA Individual Academic Awards.

One of the most notable changes Price made this year, faculty can now report academic information electronically and the coaches can view submissions immediately.  This has assisted the coaches with addressing any possible academic issues a student/athlete may be having and allowing a quick intervention.

Sinclair continues to be active in the community under Price as the Pride strives to be great in the "Three C's" (Classroom, Community & Competition).  Each sport gets actively involved with many different community service project throughout the year.

This year Sinclair Athletics continued the growth process with a new Athletic website.  In a move to bring a more professional looking Athletic home page, Price selected PrestoSports to design and host SinclairAthletics.Com.  Adding to the increasingly visibility of social media, each sport was set up with Twitter accounts.  This has brought more exposure to the five sports and an increased awareness to Sinclair Athletics.  The driving force behind going with PrestoSports is that they host the OCCAC website and can deliver a function that allows the coaches to only enter stats once, updating stats on all three sites (NJCAA, OCCAC & Sinclair).
