Sinclair Community College is recognizing and celebrating the record 75 College Credit Plus (CCP) participants who are graduating with Sinclair associate degrees while still in high school. This is a 9% increase over last year.
The students were recognized on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, during a special graduation ceremony held at Sinclair’s downtown Dayton campus.
More than 9,000 students enrolled in CCP at Sinclair for the 2022-2023 school year. CCP is Ohio’s dual-enrollment program giving students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to take college courses for free and earn high school and college credit before graduating high school. CCP provides high school students the option to choose from a wide-range of courses and programs in both a career and technical field of study that prepares them for in-demand jobs, as well as general education courses that can be transferred to a four-year university.
“I had a great academic experience throughout my entire CCP journey with Sinclair Community College. I learned how to deal with professors, learned how to work with a variety of adult peers, and I challenged myself. With the support of my parents, teachers, and advisors, I am graduating with my Engineering Associate Degree from Sinclair before graduating high school. I plan to attend Indian Tech University with the Guill scholarship that covers my entire tuition. I will be majoring in mechanical engineering, and hope to get my PhD. Eventually, I want to go into aerospace engineering. I’m hoping to inspire others to keep pushing for their dream because it is obtainable if you make it happen.”

“What the CCP graduates have done requires a level of grit and determination that isn’t expected of individuals their age. I hope that the graduates take a moment and allow themselves to be proud and acknowledge their strength and resiliency. As I now look towards graduating with my Master’s in a few weeks and beginning a PhD program on the horizon, I remain steadfast in my immense gratitude for the opportunities the CCP program through Sinclair has afforded me. Those opportunities are there for these graduates as well because of their willingness to excel.”

“As we wrap up our eighth year of providing the opportunity for high school students to earn college credit at no cost to their families through CCP, we are reminded that we could not achieve this success without the support from our K-12 school partners who are vital to preparing students for in-demand careers,” added Liz Cicchetti, Chief School Partnerships Officer – Sinclair Community College.
158 school districts in 11 counties currently participate in Sinclair’s CCP program. To learn more about CCP at Sinclair Community College, visit https://www.sinclair.edu/academics/ccp.
