Sinclair Community College hosted the SuccessBound 2022 Conference on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, to bring together business, K-12, and higher education leaders to discuss current workforce initiatives and develop new strategies for preparing students for in-demand career opportunities.
More than 120 education and business representatives participated in multiple breakout sessions focused on apprenticeships, career awareness, the current workforce needs of employers, and the certificates and degrees that will put students on the path to career success.
Sinclair hosted the SuccessBound 2022 Conference as a member of the Ohio Tech Prep West Region. This year’s theme was “Bringing Together Ohio’s Strong Business and Education Partners to Engage and Inspire Students.”
“Sinclair Community College is honored to host SuccessBound 2022 that allows representatives from education and business to have thoughtful, meaningful conversations about what’s working in Western Ohio and what more needs to be done to prepare students for growing career opportunities,” said Pamela Hunt, Ohio College Tech Prep Chief Administrator - West Region.
For more than 25 years, Ohio College Tech Prep has been developing career pathways and programs of study for students by building and fostering relationships between representatives from secondary and post-secondary education, business, industry, and community organizations. Six Tech Prep Regional Centers serve as resource hubs to support 611 school districts, 91 career technical planning districts, 23 community colleges, and 14 universities. Since 2018, nearly 5,000 employers, educators, community, student, and government representatives have participated in the annual conferences held in each of the six Ohio Tech Prep Regional Centers. Ohio College Tech Prep is jointly administered by the Ohio Department of Education and Ohio Department of Higher Education.
The keynote speaker for the SuccessBound 2022 Conference was Dr. Kevin J. Fleming, producer of multiple viral animation videos including Success in the New Economy, and author of the educational bestseller, (Re)Defining the Goal. Dr. Fleming is a passionate advocate for ensuring all students intentionally equip their potential and enter the labor market with a competitive advantage. He has successfully founded four private-sector companies while leveraging over 20 years’ experience in higher education as a college Dean, Business Administration faculty member, and recipient of over $75 Million in competitive grants. He currently leads Norco College in Southern California as the Vice President of Planning and Development.
