Sinclair College to Participate in College Goal Sunday

A State-wide Effort to Assist Students with Financial Aid Preparation

January 30, 2014 - For the third consecutive year, Sinclair College will host College Goal Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9.  The FREE event is part of a state-wide effort coordinated by the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA) and the Ohio College Access Network (OCAN) to guide students and their families through the process of applying for Federal financial aid tuition assistance.  The process begins with completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Sinclair staff will be on hand at three campus locations:  the downtown Dayton campus Building 13 (corner of Fifth and Perry Streets), the Eaton Learning Center and the Courseview Campus Center in Mason.

"This event is part of our ongoing commitment to make the critical process of applying to college as smooth as possible for students and their families," said Sinclair spokesman Adam Murka.  "We continue to be excited about this opportunity to help students start the process." Sinclair assisted over 130 individuals in 2013, and hopes to increase the number served at this year's event."

Those attending should come prepared with the proper documentation, such as:  IRS 1040 tax returns and W2s for the 2013 tax year for the student and parents, Social Security cards, Driver's License and any other benefit and income information.

There will be a total of 53 sites around Ohio that will also be part of College Goal Sunday.  Pre-registration for the event is encouraged but not required.  For additional information and to register, visit www.ohiocollegegoalsunday.org.

In the case of inclement weather, visit www.sinclair.edu for event status.
