Sinclair Community College Announces Leadership Appointments Highlighting Ongoing Commitment to Excellence

Sinclair Community College is proud to announce several key leadership appointments that underscore the college's unwavering commitment to excellence in faculty development, academic programs, and student success.

Dr. Martha Hurley Named Associate Provost of Faculty Affairs

Effective July 1, 2024, Dr. Martha Hurley will assume the role of Associate Provost of Faculty Affairs. Dr. Hurley brings a wealth of experience to this position, having previously served as Sinclair's Dean of Liberal Arts, Communication, and Social Sciences (LCS). In her new role, the Office of Work-Based Learning, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and the Library will fall within Dr. Hurley’s purview. Dr. Hurley will oversee a broad range of areas critical to faculty development and success, including faculty recruitment, performance reviews, promotion and tenure processes, and sabbatical and professor emeritus programs.  She will also lead initiatives such as the New Chair Orientation series. 

Dr. Hurley's distinguished career as a social science scholar and consultant has positioned her to effectively manage employee relations and advance strategic initiatives for both faculty and staff within Academic Affairs.  Her accomplishments as Dean of LCS include securing a Great Minds Expansion grant to bolster recruitment of underserved students, establishing a new partnership with the Kettering Foundation, and creating the Center of Applied Liberal Arts Fund to support faculty professional development.

Interim Dean of Liberal Arts, Communication, and Social Sciences

Professor Myra Bozeman, a dedicated Sinclair leader with 27 years of experience, will serve as Interim Dean of LCS effective July 1, 2024.  Professor Bozeman's extensive background includes progression from full-time communication instructor to Assistant Dean.  She has actively participated in numerous college-wide committees and led both Phi Theta Kappa and the Honors program. Professor Bozeman's commitment extends to the broader community, where she has served on the Trotwood-Madison School Board, the YMCA, and The Dayton Daily News advisory boards, and held a leadership role with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.  A full search for the new permanent Dean of LCS will commence in the fall.

Leadership Transitions in Work-Based Learning

Carol Bonner will step into the role of Interim Director of Work-Based Learning. Carol has been a valued member of Sinclair for 13 years, leading numerous grant initiatives focused on student success and completion efforts. Her previous roles include Project Director of the ECMC Work-based Learning Grant, Director of Sinclair’s Office of Completion, and member of the Advisory Council for ODHE's Finish for Your Future Adult Program Initiative.

Before Sinclair, Carol worked for several manufacturing and technical industries across the United States. Carol's skill set is extensive, encompassing collaborative leadership, mentoring, project management, grants administration, student success leadership, strategic planning, student advising, coaching, fiscal management, community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and policy impact initiatives for adult learners. She will report to Dr. Martha Hurley, Associate Provost of Faculty Affairs.

Chad Bridgman, Director of Work-Based Learning, will be departing Sinclair to pursue a new opportunity as Director of Workforce Development and Industry Partnerships for the Warren County Career Center.
