Beginning Saturday, March 5, 2022, masks will be optional for all campus locations of Sinclair Community College. Exceptions to this revised policy are individuals participating in health care education programs and other specialized settings where infectious disease control is practiced as part of the programs of study.
The modification in Sinclair’s policy comes after careful review of new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), a dramatic decrease in COVID-19 cases locally and nationally, and significant conversations among Sinclair faculty, staff, students, and leadership.
“After careful consideration and thoughtful listening sessions with the Sinclair community, we feel it is time to transition to a masks optional policy,” said Dr. Steve Johnson, President – Sinclair Community College. “Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Sinclair has frequently reviewed and adjusted its policies in an effort to put people first and protect our health care workers.”
At this time, Sinclair is only modifying its mask policy. Over the coming weeks and months, Sinclair Community College will be reviewing other COVID-19 safety measures for possible future modification.
Sinclair Community College will continue to monitor COVID-19 cases and if necessary, will adjust its policies if cases surge or new variants emerge.
