Sinclair Partners with Simlat to Provide Leading UAS Simulation Resources for Training, Research and Development

Dayton, OH – A partnership between Sinclair College and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) simulation systems provider Simlat will provide students at the National UAS Training and Certification Center with a leading-edge resource for simulated flight operations.

Housed in Building 13 of Sinclair's Dayton campus, The UAS Simulation Lab features industry-leading simulation systems in a 20-seat classroom. Five student stations and one instructor station will feature the Simlat IMPACT System, which offers customized scenarios, performance assessments, and training research capabilities. Additionally, the simulation system provides access to existing Sinclair ground control systems, giving students opportunity to train in the lab on actual vehicles in Sinclair's fleet.

"This new addition to the National UAS Training and Certification Center will provide a broad range of capabilities to students training on UAS, including supporting research and development," said Deb Norris, Vice President for Sinclair Workforce Development. "This is our first system to feature active sensor simulation, which sends out signals from the vehicle and receives information back, an important training component for vehicle operation."

Initial contact that led to the partnership was made through the Dayton Region Israel Trade Alliance (DRITA), a program that promotes business development activities between Israeli and Dayton region technology-based companies and organizations. Sinclair then worked in partnership with the Montgomery County Commissioners and Administration to bring the Simlat system to the UAS Center.

"We are extremely proud to have the opportunity to establish this partnership with Sinclair College," said Yuval Peshin, Simlat president. "The National UAS Center is a great fit for the Simlat system, which offers cutting-edge simulation configurations for commercial, civil, and military training applications."

Sinclair College is recognized as a national leader in UAS, supported by world-class partnerships, cutting-edge technology, and custom training programs designed to drive the expansion of the UAS industry. Sinclair's curriculum focuses on real-world applications of emerging UAS and sensor technologies through classroom and online instruction, simulation and hands-on vehicle operations.
