Adrian, MI – The Sinclair softball team (24-12, 6-6) is on an nine game win streak and won their first post-season game after the program was started up last season after a 21 year hiatus. Sinclair played in a one game against Jackson College on Friday, May 2 for the final spot in the District G NJCAA Regional Tournament. The playoff game for the District G NJCAA Regional Tournament was played at a neutral site, Adrian College in Adrian, MI. Sinclair took command from the beginning scoring four runs in the first inning and never looked back defeating Jackson 10-1.
Sinclair's offensive continued for them in the playoff game with the team pounding 14 hits. Sierra Stewart (3B/Soph. – Bellbrook H.S., Bellbrook, OH) led Sinclair with six RBI's, going 3-for-4 at the plate and getting one homerun and one run. Alex Hendrix (CF/Fresh. – Beavercreek H.S., Beavercreek, OH) and Brooke Peters (SS/Soph. – Union County H.S., Liberty, IN) also went 3-for-4 at the plate. Hendrix had one RBI, one homerun, and two runs. Peters scored three runs. Kaila Sturgell (P/Fresh. – Liberty Center H.S., Liberty Center, OH) was on the mound for Sinclair getting the win pitching all 7.0 innings with four strikeouts.
Sinclair moves onto to the District G NJCAA Regional Tournament which will be held in East Lansing, Michigan at Abbott Park. Sinclair is the #6 seed and will face #3 seed Lansing CC (27-14,14-2) at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 7. The Regional Tournament is double elimination.
