Sinclair to Open New Building on Courseview Campus in Mason

Courseview Doubles in Size on Way to Eventual 10,000 Student Campus

October 29, 2013 (Dayton,OH) - Sinclair College will formally open its second facility, "Building B", on its Courseview Campus in Mason, Ohio on Friday morning at 8:00 a.m.  The building, which doubles the capacity of the Courseview Campus, is a key step as Sinclair continues to grow along with the Warren County community and develop the workforce that one of the fastest growing counties in the State will require.  Sinclair's President and Board of Trustees will be joined by Congressman Steve Chabot, State Senator Shannon Jones, Warren County Commissioner Tom Arris, Mason Mayor Dave Nichols and other key leaders in the Warren County community.

"Sinclair made a commitment to the people of Warren County years ago that we would grow along with them and this building is the next step in that plan," Sinclair President Steve Johnson said. "In order to continue developing a diverse economy, this community will require a well-trained workforce and consistent access to quality higher education.  Sinclair will continue to grow our programs and our campus as necessary to keep pace with Warren County."

Sinclair has already had quite an impact on Warren County since opening its first facility at Courseview in 2007.  Enrollment has grown over 300% since that time. Fall Semester of 2013 saw an enrollment of 1,300 students, which represents an increase of 14% from last year. The opening of the second facility enables additional degree and certificate offerings for a current total of 46 programs.  Nearly 4,500 Warren County Commissioner scholarships have been awarded to Warren County students, representing over $350,000.  This year alone, it is likely that almost 400 Warren County high school students will earn as many as 1,500 Sinclair College credits, saving their families thousands of dollars in college costs.

In total, Courseview and its students have over $45 million in economic impact on Warren County.  For future growth that will eventually lead to a full-service campus serving 10,000 students, Sinclair College and the Sinclair Foundation have purchased almost 70 acres in the Courseview area.

Sinclair is recognized as a local and national leader in delivering high-quality and affordable higher education. One of the oldest and best known community colleges in the nation, Sinclair recently celebrated its 126th year and is a board member of the prestigious League for Innovation in the Community College. Sinclair offers over 170 accredited degrees and certificates and has graduated more degree and certificate holders than any other community college in the State of Ohio over the last five years.
