Sinclair to Provide Automated Vehicle Training to College Professors from Across the Nation

Sinclair to Host an Automated and Connected Vehicles Summer Conference; Sinclair Automotive professors to demo vehicles and provide training to over 40 college Automotive instructors

Sinclair Community College’s Automotive Technology Program will be hosting an Automated and Connected Vehicles Summer Conference to provide technical training on autonomous vehicle technology to over 40 participating college automotive instructors. The training is funded through a $750,000 three year National Science Foundation grant Sinclair College and the Automotive Department received.  Sinclair subject matter experts will be presenting on advanced driver assist systems on Mercedes-Benz, Cadillac, Honda, and Subaru vehicles to conduct the training sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to experience demonstrations on self-parking, crash avoidance, and semi-autonomous driving.  The goal is to create industry-supported institutes and educational resources to academically strengthen automotive technician degree programs and meet employer needs for technicians in the Autonomous Vehicle industry.

About:     Sinclair’s Automotive Technology Program has manufacture affiliated two-year associate degree internship based programs partnering with American Honda, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and General Motors to prepare students for entry-level Automotive service technician positions at local dealerships. Additionally, Sinclair has a two-year associate degree internship-based program that works with independent shops and other dealerships throughout the region. The automotive program is Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Education Foundation accredited offering daytime and evening courses. Sinclair also has two certificate programs in automotive technology and high performance.
