This degree requires the student to hold one of the following industry-recognized credentials approved by the Chancellor of the State of Ohio.

Dental Assisting / Assistant

Must hold the following credential:

Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)

AND must hold one of the following credentials:

American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS)
American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) 

EMT – Paramedic

Must hold the following credential:

Paramedicine– EMT-P License

National Registry Certification

Cognitive and Psychomotor Examinations

AND must hold one of the following credentials:

American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS)

American Health Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

Exercise Science

Must hold the following credentials:

National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) Certification

National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES)

National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS)

And must hold ONE of the following credentials:

American Red Cross Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

American Heart Association Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Massage Therapy

Must hold the following credential:

State of Ohio Massage Therapy license

AND complete a 150 clock hour practicum

Medical Assisting

Must hold ONE of the following credentials:

American Medical Technologists (AMT) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)

American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)

Medical Sonographer

Must hold the following credentials:

American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARMDS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

ARMDS Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer

Optometric

Must hold the following credential:

American Optometric Association Certified Paraoptometric Technician

Patient Care Technician - 600 hour; 20 credit hour block (only)

Must meet the following credential pathway

Must hold ONE of the following credentials:

National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Patient Care Technician

National Health Career Associations (NHA) Patient Care Technician/Assistant

Ohio Department of Health Nurse Aid

And must hold ONE of the following credentials:

National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) ECG Technician

National Healthcareer Association (NHA) EKG Technician

And must hold ONE of the following credentials:

National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT)

National Healthcareer Association Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)

American Medical Technologist (AMT) Registered Phlebotomy Technician

National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) Phlebotomist

And must hold ONE of the following credentials:

American Red Cross or American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/ Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

American Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid

Practical Nursing

Must hold the following credential:

National Council for State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) NCLEX- PN Licensed Practical Nurse

Radiological Technologist

Must hold the following credential:

State of Ohio Radiographer license

Surgical Technology

Must hold the following credential:

National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Certified Surgical Technologist certification

 

There are two pathways to degree completion.

The Ohio Department of Higher Education’s (ODHE) One-Year Option initiative established an articulation system whereby adults who complete a career-technical education program of study consisting of 600-900 clock hours shall receive 20-30 semester hours of technical course credit toward the Associate of Technical Study (ATS) in Health and Allied Health Technology.

Any student who holds the industry-recognized credential is also eligible to receive a block of 20-30 technical hours toward the ATS degree in Health and Allied Health Technology.

The hours will be awarded as a block of credit (rather than credit for specific courses) and will satisfy the technical course requirements for the ATS degree.

To receive credit, interested students must:

1.     Be a current Sinclair student or apply here  www.sinclair.edu/apply

a.     Choose: To obtain an Associate Degree for the Job Market

b.     Meet with an Academic Advisor in the Health Sciences Community to plan the remaining requirements and electives- 937.512.3700

2.     Submit an articulated credit request via the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) website  www.sinclair.edu/pla

a.     The application is linked in the last line under PLA Policies

b.     Upload a PDF(s) of valid credential/licensure

c.     Upload Career Technical completion certificate or Secondary One-Year Option Completion Form if your training was completed via an Ohio Adult or Secondary Career Technical program
