A full-time student enrolled in their Junior, Senior year or graduate program at an accredited college/university.
Declared major in civil, chemical, mechanical, electrical or environmental engineering or one of the environmental sciences (e.g. geology, hydrogeology, ecology).
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent on a 5.0 scale)
Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident in one of the 50 states, Washington, D.C., or Puerto Rico.
Current high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student planning full-time enrollment in an accredited U.S. college or university for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Demonstrate ambition and self-drive through outstanding achievement, participation, and leadership in school activities and work experience.
Demonstrate interest in pursuing a career and enrolled in the following majors:
Athletic Training, Health Policy, Psychology, Biology, Kinesiology, Nursing, General Medicine, Dentistry, Behavioral Sciences, Personal Training, Physical Education Teaching and Coaching, Health and Physical Fitness, Exercise Science, Sports and Recreation Management, Health Sciences, Physical Therapist, or another health-related major.

The John Reinert Scholarship award believes that one of the best ways of eliminating homophobia in law enforcement is by having positive and visible role models from the LGBT community serving in ranks of the law enforcement profession.
Criteria
Identify and be “out” as gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, or transgender.
Be currently enrolled in a basic law enforcement training program (eg. police academy, dispatcher academy, correctional officer academy) in the United States. (sponsored or self-sponsored).
Demonstrate being a visible, positive role model for law enforcement.
Demonstrate being able to graduate from a law enforcement training program.
