The web site and college information line are updated immediately following a decision to modify the college schedule. The media is also notified immediately. The decision to modify the schedule is based on multiple sources of information and will be made as early as possible.
Notifications are also available through text and email alerts.
When the college delays opening, classes that have 50 or more minutes of meeting time remaining following the opening time will meet. A two-hour delay in the morning means a 10:00 a.m. start time, since Sinclair begins normal daily operations at 8:00 a.m.
Examples:
When the college announces a 2-hour delay (opening at 10:00 a.m.), classes that ordinarily meet from 9:00-11:30 a.m. would meet because more that 50 minutes of instructional time (i.e., a full class period) remains.
A class normally held between 8 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. would be canceled.
When administration closes the campus early, all activities should be terminated at the announced time.
Sinclair students participating in off-campus clinicals, practicums, or other work-based learning activities may continue as scheduled. Students should check with their program faculty or site for any specific changes to their off-campus learning requirements.

In addition to the text and email alerts, all delay and closure announcements will be available on the homepage of the college website (www.sinclair.edu), on Sinclair's Facebook and Twitter pages, and on the college information line 937-512-2888. The local media news channels will also be alerted to changes in Sinclair's schedule.
Sinclair's Emergency Closing Procedure is located in the Policies Library under Facilities and Safety.
Instructors teaching for the AJT program at sites outside the Dayton region will be notified by their respective site coordinators if hazardous weather conditions arise in their area. Site coordinators will monitor local weather conditions and consult with the Chief Officer to ensure decisions prioritize the safety of instructors, staff, and students.
Additionally, any closure of Sinclair Community College campuses due to inclement weather may result in the closure of associated AJT program sites. Furthermore, any closure instituted by the respective correctional institution will be honored without exception.
Instructors are advised to regularly check their Sinclair email and the college's official communication channels for updates and instructions. For further clarification, instructors should reach out to their site coordinators directly.
The safety and well-being of all AJT program participants remain our highest priority.
