What is the program about?

The Quality Engineering Technology (QET) program prepares individuals for quality management, engineering, or technician roles in the areas of business, industry, and service. Students learn Quality Management, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control skills. Competencies include metrology, auditing, data analysis, continuous improvement, and problem-solving techniques that can be applied toward financial, health care, manufacturing, and service/retail fields. Students take part in lecture-lab structured courses and hands-on demonstrations of course principles, ensuring that they will gain practical knowledge as well as the fundamentals. Those who wish to further their studies may transfer to four-year colleges and universities. This degree program contains one or more embedded certificates which will be automatically awarded when the certificate requirements are completed. Program Outcomes

  • Demonstrate the math and science skills required for data analysis.
  • Document, monitor, evaluate and improve product and process quality using both Quality Assurance and Quality Control principles.
  • Demonstrate appropriate technical communication skills (written, verbal and graphical).
  • Use structured problem-solving and continuous improvement techniques to reduce waste, improve process and part quality, and increase customer satisfaction

Career Opportunities

Career opportunities exist for Quality Technicians, Quality Engineering Technicians and Quality engineers. This degree can be the pathway to multiple career opportunities within the field of Quality.

Transferability

None at this time. Once the degree is approved we will be contacting area 4-year institutions for articulation.
