First-Generation Student Support

First-generation college students are those whose family and parents or guardians do not have a college-going tradition. We recognize that first-gens struggle with the same family and financial support that helps students from high-income families successfully complete college. These students have less social support and family practical knowledge on how to navigate entering into college and college application processes. Often they are not as confident in their ability to succeed, even when they have the same level of high school preparation and achievement as their peers.

Sinclair's missions is to be accessible with open access to programs and services, tailored to the diverse needs our of students. As well as help eliminate the success achievement gaps between groups. We are here for the needs of first-gen students.
