January 2024

  • Spotlight on Clubs! -  Be sure to visit the Sinclair College Student Clubs & Organizations Hub (SCSCOH) on eLearn to find out which clubs are spotlighted during the month. If you are not yet enrolled in the SCSCOH, simply go to your My.Sinclair page, click on the eLearn module, click on DISCOVER, type "clubs" in the search bar, select the SCSCOH and enroll. Its FREE!
  • Let's Talk about Student Clubs & Organizations! - (01/18/24), 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM, NE Loggia, Library. Swing by and grab a bag of popcorn and take away great information on how to explore clubs and organizations on campus.
  • Crafting with Queers - (01/25/24), 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM, L21, Library. Stop by room L21 in the library and join the LGBTQ+ Support Liaison, Lex, as she hosts a space to be creative and uniquely YOU! Chill with the LGBTQ+ folks and allies by creating some crafts! Supplies for friendship bracelets, coloring and beading provided. Bring your own crafts to work on too!
  • GamEscape - (01/23/24), 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM, Building 8, Game Room. Stop by and play board games, video games, foosball, ping pong and more!
  • Heartfulness Meditation: The Heartfulness Way - (01/29/24), 1:15 PM - 2:15 PM, Building 2-334, Green Room.  Heart-based meditations designed for YOU. An introduction to Heartfulness meditation.
  • Poppin' Bingo! - (01/30/24), 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, NW Loggia, Library. Stop by NW Loggia Library, grab a bag of popcorn and play bingo. Play as many rounds of bingo as you like! Chance to win fun prizes.
  • Season for Nonviolence - (01/30/24), 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, NE Loggia, Library. The annual Season of Nonviolence is observed each year between Jan 30, the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's assassination, and April 4, the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's assassination. Stop by the table in the NE Loggia to learn more about peace and nonviolence.

February 2024

  • Sinclair Talks: Overcoming Anxieties through Creativity - (02/01/24), 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Building 2-334, Green Room. Creative expression is a wonderful way to deal with anxiety. Join us as we put the principle into practice and make "Blessing Beads." All supplies and instructions will be provided to help you experience a session of calming creativity.
  • Feed the Birds - (02/05/24), 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM, NE Loggia, Library. February is National Bird-Feeding Month. The season is still quite harsh and it makes it hard for birds to find enough food and nutrients. Stop by the NE Loggia and pick up baggies filled with bird seed and go outside and feed the birds. You may feed them on campus in the grassy areas or take the baggies to other locations off campus that you feel would be a great benefit to the birds. Please feed in areas that would be safe for the birds. Post pictures of feeding the birds on instagram or facebook and use #SinclairFeedtheBirds for a chance to win a winter prize pack. Winner announced February 28th.

  • Light a Candle. Honor a Loved One. - (02/08/24), 12:15 PM - 12:30 PM, NW Loggia, Library. Take a couple minutes to join us in a circle as we light a candle to honor a friend and/or loved one who has battled cancer of any kind. If you would like to submit a photo of your friend/loved one to be displayed at the candle lighting, please click on this link.

  • Free Movie Streaming on Us! Valentine Challenge - (02/14/24), All Day, SCSCOH on eLearn. Log into the Sinclair College Student Clubs & Organizations Hub (SCSCOH) on eLearn to stream free movies all day!   • Sinclair Talks: My Queer Valentine - (02/14/24), 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM, NW Loggia, Library. Learn from the LGBTQ+ Support Liaison about healthy relationships and sexual health for LGBTQ+ folks. Open to anyone who would like to learn more about this topic.
  • Sinclair Random Acts of Kindness Day - (02/15/24), All Day, Across Campus. Say or do something nice for someone else today & you may also receive a kindness in return.
  • Recreational Sport and Fitness Week - (02/19/24 - 02/22/24), Varies. The Physical Activity Center will be offering free classes with the ability to pick and choose. Join us either Wednesday, February 21, or Thursday, February 22, for an Open House – Free One Day Membership Pass. Present your Tartan ID Card at the Dayton Campus, Building 8, Basement, Room 017, to receive your FREE Membership Pass for the day. Choose to attend either Open Recreation Hours or one of our designated classes (Refer to the PAC Activity Class Pass for a list of available classes). 
  • Spring Mixer: Student Club & Organizations Fair - (02/20/24), 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM, NW Loggia, Library. Meet members of student clubs and organizations. Learn how you can get involved. Play games. Eat popcorn & candy. Have fun!
  • National Love Your Pet Photo Submission - (02/20/24), 8:00 AM - 11:59 PM, SCSCOH on eLearn. Log into the Sinclair College Student Clubs and Organizations Hub on eLearn to access the photo submission link. Upload a photo of your favorite pet. One submission per applicant. Students are eligible for a chance to win Sinclair swag.   • Sinclair Talks: Therapy Dogs! - (03/14/2024), 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM, NW Loggia, Library. This presentation is an introduction to the use of therapy dogs for the support of our community. Currently therapy dogs are used to support Fire, EMS, Police personnel and medical facility staff. Therapy dogs are beginning to be utilized for students in educational facilities as well. We’ll also discuss the different type of support dogs, including the difference between emotional support and therapy dogs. Also, be sure to say “hello” to therapy dog, Charlee.  She is a 1.5 year old chocolate lab who will be present during this event.

CEO of DYSLEXIA Speaks, Dennis has spent his life learning how to embrace life and inspire others to do the same. Dennis has been acknowledged by the Ohio House of Representatives for his work and commitment over the years, helping others with dyslexia. He has served on the Advisory Committee at Sinclair College to assist with accessibility services and worked with the youth of Dayton Public Schools. The presenters, author of "Lincoln: The Servant Leader" Kim Vallalva and Ohio Fellows advisor, Tom Roberts, will share the concept of Servant Leadership and show how President Lincoln was a servant leader.   • Sinclair Talks: Satyagraha - Peace, Joy, Love - (04/04/24), 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, Building 2-334, Green Room. Satyagraha is a Sanskrit and Hindi word that means "holding onto truth." Mahatma Gandhi used this term to guide efforts to leverage nonviolence to overcome evil. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. also employed this principle to fuel the Civil Rights Movement. Join us to learn more about the principle and its practice as we conclude the 2024 Season of Nonviolence.

  • Sinclair College's 23rd Annual Career Fair - (04/10/24), 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Building 12, Great Hall. The Student and Community Engagement office is hosting a career fair designed for students and alumni to connect with employers offering full and part-time, seasonal, and temporary positions as well as internships and apprenticeships. Nearly 100 employers from industries across the area are hiring and ready to speak with jobseekers about the opportunities available at their companies.
