Marketing most often uses on print collateral sans-serif fonts for copy headings and serif fonts for sentences and longer passages. Content for web and on electronic devices uses web fonts.
Marketing purchased the license to use the Gotham font for commercial uses. This license does not allow Marketing to distribute the Gotham font to others. If purchasing the Gotham font is not an option, Marketing recommends the following free fonts as a substitution to Gotham: Arial, Montserrat
Sinclair’s web font that mimics Sinclair’s logo font Gotham is Montserrat. Gotham font is a licensed font and cannot be embedded on a web page due to distribution rights. Montserrat, which is a free open-source font that is optimized for the web, should be used.
Source Serif Pro is most often used for headers, headlines and important text.
Open Sans is used for paragraphs, tables, buttons, links and bullets or numbered lists. Montserrat is most often used for sub-headings and marketing text.
The standard body font size is 14 pixels (14px=1em) with a line height of 24 pixels. All other font sizes should use em to calculate the size from the formula: pixels/14=em. The smallest font size allowed is 0.64em or 9px. These standards are in place for compliance with website accessibility under Title II of the ADA and for providing improved screen readability.
