Changing the Future

Below are resources to assist faculty and staff to learn more about Artificial Intelligence (AI), grow their understanding of its usefulness in teaching, learning, and the workplace, and even try out AI for themselves! Sinclair is currently working towards a more robust strategy for AI that will be comprehensive. All information on this page aligns with the intentional recommendations of the AI team and is current as of January 26, 2024.

Want to learn more? Have a link or resource of interest we can include on this page? Contact the CTL and we can connect you with a member of the initial campus AI Team.

Make sure to check out the AI Team's Zotero Bibliography site! Some of the content and resources on this page comes from their hard work!

What is AI?

Artificial Intelligence, or AI, means computer systems which can perform simple or complex tasks previously only thought doable by humans. This may include reasoning, making decisions, or critically thinking to solve problems. There is also Generative AI (GenAI) which are systems and algorithms intentionally designed to generate new content that mirrors human-created content.

AI in Teaching and Learning

There are many implications for AI in teaching and learning that can and will impact Sinclair and its students. For example, AI can be used to create content for courses by faculty, and students can use it to create ideas or possible materials for assignments.

AI in the Workplace

AI also has many possible uses in the workplace from inspiring ideas for team or department meetings to capturing key elements of a Zoom call, or even further to helping plan your day.

Ethics and Proper Use of AI

There is of course concern over how AI can be used in ethical and meaningful ways. Fortunately, there are plentiful resources showcasing the connection of AI and academic integrity and other core areas.

AI Learning Opportunities

Since AI is very new to many of us, it's important to make sure we take advantage of learning opportunities to better understand AI. The AI Team’s recommendations were crucial in establishing that Sinclair must offer AI-focused learning opportunities for faculty and staff. Stay connected to the CTL Events page to see when the next AI workshop or event will take place.

Make sure to check the CTL Events page for events related to AI!

Try out AI!

Interested in just "trying before you buy?" Check out these common AI tools that require only an account to get started! Sometimes the best way to learn is to just simply tryout a product.
