CLT 2720 Histology Techniques
This course will provide additional instruction of hands-on, practical skills required of the Histology laboratory. Special emphasis will be placed on the operation of histology equipment and technical skill in the preparation of tissue slides from both paraffin and frozen tissue sections. Two classroom, three lab hours per week.

Outcomes
- Identify the advantages and disadvantages of paraffin compared with other available embedding media. State the appropriate processing method or medium for various histological procedures. Demonstrate the basic laboratory, techniques used in the histology laboratory.
- Describe routine microtome maintenance. Describe routine cryostat maintenance. Describe the basic instrumentation used in the histology laboratory.
- Demonstrate an awareness of the proper procedures to protect self and the environment in a healthcare setting.
