Outcomes

  • On anatomic models, identify the coronal and radicular portions of the pulpal tissues and demonstrate the ability to correctly identify an individual tooth strictly by its root structures and features.
  • Identify the individual bones of the skull and name selected anatomic components of each bone.
  • On anatomic models, name and locate the muscle groups of the head and neck. Identify individual muscles as indicated on these models.
  • Identify the anatomical structures that comprise the temporomandibular joint on anatomic models.
  • Identify selected nerves that innervate the oral cavity and para-oral tissues on anatomic models.

  • Identify the gross anatomical structures of the oral and para-oral soft tissues on anatomic slides and models. Differentiate the three basic classes of mucosa by location on anatomic slides and models.
  • Differentiate the crown portion of the tooth from the root and identify the dental tissues by location on anatomic models. Differentiate the locations and functions of the different types of teeth on anatomic models.
  • Locate and name the arches, quadrants and sextants of the dentition and identify contact areas and embrasures on anatomic models.
  • Identify morphological features of each permanent and primary tooth and correctly assign the appropriate name and code number/letter of individual teeth on anatomic models.
