HVA 1832 NCCER HVAC Level 2B

This course covers basic maintenance of HVAC-R systems, chimneys, vents, and flues, sheet metal duct systems, fiberglass and flexible duct systems, commercial airside systems, air quality equipment, and an introduction to hydronic systems. One classroom, two lab hours per week.

Outcomes

  • Explain the inspection and maintenance of selected equipment. Utilize maintenance-oriented materials and guidelines for the inspection and maintenance of various systems and accessories as well as application and adjustment of gaskets, seals, and belt drives.
  • Explain the principles of venting fossil fuels furnaces. Select and install vent systems for gas-fired heating equipment.
  • Layout, fabricate, install, and insulate sheet metal ductwork. Select and install registers, diffusers, dampers, and other duct accessories.
  • Layout, fabricate, install, and join fiberglass ductwork and fittings. Demonstrate the proper methods for attaching and supporting flex duct.
  • Explain the systems, equipment, and operating sequences of commercial airside system configurations.
  • Explain the principles, processes, and devices used to control humidity and air cleanliness; also become familiar with devices used to conserve energy in HVAC systems.
  • Understand hot water heating systems, focusing on safe operation of low-pressure boilers and piping systems in residential applications.
