This course covers water treatment, indoor air quality, energy conservation equipment, building management systems, and system air balancing in HVAC. One classroom, two lab hours per week.

  • Demonstrate understanding and identify water problems encountered in heating and cooling systems.
  • Understand and implement methods of monitoring and controlling indoor air quality.
  • Understand heat recovery/reclaim devices and other energy equipment used to reduce energy consumption in HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrate understanding of how computers and microprocessors manage HVAC systems. Connect wiring and interface with the systems.
  • Demonstrate understanding of air properties, gas laws, and psychrometrics. Use tools, instruments, and procedures to balance an air distribution system.
