PHY 2210 MATLAB for Scientists & Engineers

Introduction to problem solving and programming using MATLAB. Topics include the MATLAB desktop, arrays, graphics, basic programming concepts and structures such as logical and relational operators, control flow statements, M files, functions and object oriented programming. Applications will be chosen from the sciences and engineering.

Outcomes

  • The student will be able to construct modules within MATLAB that utilize basic programming tools such as logical and mathematical operators, variables and flow control structures.
  • The student will be able to utilize the MATLAB software so as to integrate graphical representations of data and mathematical functions into the solution of problems.
  • The student will be able to use the MATLAB software to solve scientific and engineering problems.
  • The student will be able to manipulate files and programming structures effectively within the MATLAB environment.
