Introduction to palpation and therapeutic touch; massage and manual therapy for soft tissue; patient draping; physiological effects, therapeutic applications, contraindications, soft tissue mobilization and myofascial release for the body. Four lab hours per week.

Students will be able to competently apply manual therapy techniques, assuring patient comfort and privacy, appropriately monitoring the patient’s response to treatment and adjusting accordingly, and documenting the treatment.
Students will be able to assess the patient’s readiness for treatment, identify the appropriate target tissue for manual therapy intervention, and assess treatment outcomes.
Students will be able to select manual therapy interventions to address tissue impairments that are appropriate for the target tissue in various stages of healing.
Students will understand the principles of manual therapy and how to appropriately apply them to patients with tissue impairment in various stages of healing.
