VET 2250 Veterinary Pharmacology

Veterinary Pharmacology, the development, uses, and administration of specific classes of drugs used within veterinary medicine. This will include (but not be limited to) discussions on antibiotics, antiseptics, anti-inflammatories, analgesics, and medications used for the treatment of systemic diseases.

Outcomes

  • Given a specific drug name or category, the student will be able to identify the effect of the drug on the body tissues, and the elimination of the drug from the body.
  • The student will be able to categorize products used as medicines in order to better understand the uses of the medication.
  • Given a specific drug name or category, the student will be able to identify how the drug moves through the animal's body in order to effect a treatment.
